How to Have Complete Job Security

Love Letter

I’m a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”  Mother Theresa

Wouldn’t you love to have a job where you will never be let go, the work doesn’t run out and your heart will grow with each day?  This is no secret just for a chosen few…the job where you can be totally secure doesn’t necessarily pay well…BUT the dividends are great in your heart and eternity.

Are you ready for it?

Hire yourself to be the “Official Meeter of Needs of those Around You.”

Catchy title, right?

Serving others is a job you can do.. should do.  There is no resume required, you don’t need to be chosen…hire yourself.  If you are here and breathing, the job is yours and the needs around you that you can meet will never run out.  Put yourself to work loving and serving those in your home and your community…your neighbor.

You are living the story that God is authoring.

His love + your uniqueness + service is His gift to the world through you.

Hire yourself to love and serve your family and neighbors and you will always have job security.

Here are three tips to keep in mind when getting to work:

#1 – Serve authentically – meaning – use your natural gifts and talents to show God’s love and meet the needs of those around you.  Do you love to cook?  Make a meal.  Do you love kids?  Babysit or teach Sunday school.  Are you good at gardening?  Grow some flowers or veggies and share them.

#2 – Start and now and serve when the Spirit prompts you.  You can hire yourself immediately…no need to wait.  Who is close by?  Find their need and do what you can for them.  What about when the Spirit prompts you?  I’ll give you an example.  I made chicken noodle soup a couple of nights ago and I had a lot left over.  A thought floated through my brain that I could take some to a neighbor.  It would have been easy to dismiss and even easier just to save it all for my family.  Instead, I grabbed a container, took some soup over and visited for a few minutes too.  What do you have that you can share and where is God asking you to share it?

Yesterday has gone.  Tomorrow has not yet come.  We have only today.  Let us begin.  Mother Theresa

#3 – Start small by doing the next right thing.  We often think our service (especially when tied to God’s work) should be grand life saving work.  Not so.  The smallest things done with great love will have the deepest impact.  A smile, a word of encouragement…even an email or text, sharing a meal or a cup of coffee…doing the laundry, keeping the bathrooms clean.  All of this is good and will bless the recipient.

Do not think that love in order to be genuine  has to be extraordinary.  What we need is to love without getting tired.  Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.  Mother Theresa

So, have you hired yourself?  Whom will you serve and how?

P.S.  If you haven’t signed up for my emails yet…won’t you head to the bottom of the home page or over to the side bar to do that?

P.P.S.  Some of these thoughts were inspired by a podcast I listened to recently.  You can find it on iTunes.  The title is Grace Talks with Edie Wadsworth and it was episode 7.
